In Jeju, a service is expected to be established that can register and manage pets through iris recognition-based biometric technology.
The startup ‘EYED LAB’, a nurturing company of the Jeju Creative Economy Innovation Center (Center Director Jeon Jeong-hwan), recently obtained certification from the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) related to animal iris recognition technology.
EYED LAB is a startup based on animal iris recognition technology that is developing a service for animal registration and history management by creating a mobile ID that can distinguish animals through patent registration related to animal iris recognition technology.
The KISA certification obtained this time is a system that tests the performance of the recognition algorithm of biometric authentication products based on the performance test standards and procedures recommended by the International Standardization Organization.
EYED LAB passed the performance test through the iris recognition algorithm (HU EYED) developed in-house in this certification process and was recognized for its technical capabilities.
If animal iris recognition technology is commercialized, it is expected that guardians will be able to easily and conveniently manage the pedigree, vaccination, medical history, insurance, etc. of pets.
EYED LAB is enhancing technology to quickly find guardians when stray animals occur, in addition to pet registration and management services.
EYED LAB said, ‘We will expand the technology to ensure safe and accurate authentication when registering pets, provide mobile IDs to pets registered with the iris, and provide various online and offline services to users.’
Meanwhile, EYED LAB is a second-generation resident company of the Jeju downtown innovation startup hub ‘W360’ and received seed money through the Jeju Creative Economy Innovation Center in the first half of this year.
